Paying off existing loans

I have a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction...the problem is that the Graduate Degree was so expensive that it makes it impossible to remain a classroom teacher! With teacher salary...how can one pay off an academic loan and not have to leave their profession of choice? Is ANYTHING available?
